Dalvin Cook's Cryptic Social Media Post Is Going Viral

Dalvin Cook's recent social media message has NFL fans buzzing.

The four-time Pro Bowl running back continues to be without a new contract as he waits in free agency. While there are many teams that could use the services of Cook, his price might be a tad too rich at this stage of his career.

That said, the 29-year-old ball carrier took to X on Thursday to drop a mysterious mark, leaving his followers with questions about the true nature of the post.

The text just revealed a "4," his number prior to his departure from the Minnesota Vikings. While some fans assumed it was a retirement announcement, there were others who believed it's a sign he's returning to the city that drafted him. Either way, it could mean that he's eager to put the pads on again.

Cook is only two years removed from his best rushing campaign as a key member of the Vikings, but he's struggled to attain a workhorse role ever since.

He signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets in 2023, but didn't make it through a full season before being released. He was acquired by the injury-riddled Baltimore Ravens last year, just before their playoff push. However, Cook conceded all of his rushing reps to Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in the AFC title loss to the Chiefs last January.

It's clear that Cook's mileage gradually dissipated in Minnesota over the course of six seasons. He averaged 214 rushing attempts per year in that span.

Cook hasn't gained much steam as a free agent this offseason, but don't be surprised if he provides additional backfield depth somewhere soon.
