By Wil Riggs,
The Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots will kick off Week 2 of the preseason with a Thursday night tilt at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
This will be the first time these two teams have met in the preseason since 2021. Their last meeting was a 35-0 victory by the Patriots at Lincoln Financial Field. The last regular season matchup was September 10, 2023 when the Eagles beat the Patriots 25-20 at Gillette Field.
The two teams have played 23 times in the preseason. The Patriots hold a 13-10 edge in the exhibition series. During the regular season, however, the two teams have met 14 times with the Eagles holding a slim 8-6 series lead.

For the Eagles, rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean was activated on Tuesday for the joint practices with the Patriots and could see some playing time on Thursday night. Getting the rookie second-rounder some snaps will likely be a priority for the Eagles.
For the Patriots, watch for Drake Maye, this year’s No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The young quarterback out of North Carolina is looking to establish himself as the starter in New England over Bailey Zappe.
There are a lot of young, exciting players to watch on both teams, but we are sure fans also want to see Eagles stars Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and of course this year’s latest addition running back Saquon Barkley. ... but the world might have a wait a while for a big portion of all of that.
Mums the word around the Eagles camp on who will and won’t play on Thursday night, but keep your eyes on No. 33 in the defensive backfield as DeJean looks to make up for lost time in camp.
