Brittney Griner's return to WNBA action was one to remember. The talented center set a Phoenix Mercury franchise record in the team's victory over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Thursday.

Griner became the first player in franchise history to record 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ blocks in a single game.

In the 85-65 win, Griner recorded 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and five blocks. She had a phenomenal outing in terms of efficiency, finishing the matchup game shooting 10-12 from the field.

Prior to the game the 6-foot-9 center spoke about being excited about a matchup against a player her size in 6-foot-7 rookie Kamilla Cardoso, and it seems the enthusiasm brought out the best in Griner.

The Mercury center has been a force on both ends of the floor this season. Before the matchup against Chicago, Griner was averaging 18.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

She's fresh off a gold medal victory in the Summer Olympics, helping the United States earn their eighth straight gold medal in women's basketball. Griner was able to achieve the feat in the international games alongside two Mercury teammates, Diana Taurasi and Kahleah Copper.

After starting off the second half of the WNBA season with a dominant win, Phoenix will have a quick turnaround.

The Mercury will go head-to-head against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
