Victor Wembanyama Makes His Opinion of Kevin Durant Extremely Clear

Victor Wembanyama and Kevin Durant met in a clash of freakish NBA talents during the gold medal game between France and USA earlier this month.

KD and Team USA ultimately came out on top, winning gold over Wemby and his host-country team in Paris.

After the game, the two uniquely-elite talents met at mid court and shared a lengthy embrace. Wembanyama showed a great deal of reverence for Durant, even in defeat.

Wemby revealed his postgame message for Durant during a recent interview with M6 Info.

"Clearly this is my personal childhood favorite. He became my favorite player... I made it clear to him that I wanted to learn from him and perhaps only steal one or two of his secret techniques," Wembanyama said, as translated to English by ClutchPoints.

It makes perfect sense that Wemby grew up as a KD fan. Durant was Victor Wembanyama before Victor Wembanyama, taking over the NBA as a skinny 7-footer with elite scoring ability.

Now as Durant enters the latter years of his NBA career, it's nearly Wembanyama's turn to take the reins as the league's next "Slim Reaper."

On Thursday, it was announced that Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs will face off against Durant and the Phoenix Suns in a special NBA matchup at the University of Texas on February 20. They'll also match up against each other in a Phoenix home game on December 3.
