    Warriors Dynasty Crumbling?

    By Lance Roberson,

For a team three years removed from winning an NBA championship, toxicity and misfortune follow a successful franchise. The Golden State Warriors experienced turmoil with Draymond Green acting as a distraction and a detriment in light of his on-court assaults on Rudy Gobert and Jusuf Nurkic. Furthermore, as Steve Kerr attempted to keep it together, Klay Thompson's struggles caused another rift.

The Warriors missed the playoffs for the second time in four years after the Sacramento Kings knocked them out of the Play-In Tournament. The Warriors dynasty is slowly crumbling after losing Thompson in free agency to the Dallas Mavericks.

Rashad McCants took it further: “It’s a burning building. The motherf*ckers [are] coming down, and unfortunately, it’s due to all of the things [Golden State] allowed to happen with Jordan Poole… I feel like that’s why Klay [Thompson] left.”

McCants mentioned Poole as the catalyst. In fairness to McCant's take, the Warriors not suspending Green enabled the problematic power forward. Furthermore, Green's demeanor mutated into an unstoppable emotional roller coaster, as he spent the 2024-25 season hitting people and attempting to hide his hand or fragrantly make excuses for his mistakes.

However,  McCants' reference to Poole as a reason why Thompson left is entirely off-base. The Athletic reported Thompson's unhappiness with his role and the lack of a contract extension. Thompson's departure from the Warriors stemmed from money and role, not a lack of team chemistry.

Finally, in response to the burning building take, it has legs, but there is a chance for revitalization as long as the Warriors have Stephen Curry.
