Tony Romo: 'Tom's Gonna Do Great' as Commentator

    By Jonah Morgan,

AUG 15 NEW ARC IN BRADY'S CAREER Tom Brady is considered by many to be the greatest player in NFL history. He is now about to start commentating, and Tony Romo thinks he is "gonna do great."

"I think it’s great," Romo said Tuesday on CBS Mornings . "I think it’s great for the industry that people want to go into this position and these roles. I think you find that the NFL has that grab. This was not always that, but Troy Aikman, I felt like really started this. Now it’s part of possibly an arc in your career."

There are many former NFL players that have gone on to be commentators, and Brady has the opportunity to be one of the best in two different fields.

AUG 15 BRADY SECOND RETURN? Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady played into his 40s, and he said in a recent video posted on his YouTube channel that he could still be competitive in the league today.

"I just want to make sure all those young bucks in the NFL know that if I still wanted to come out of retirement, they still got something to deal with," Brady said.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is 47 years old, which would make it very tough for him to keep up. But if there is anyone that could do it, it would be Brady.

AUG 14 STALEY MEETS BRADY South Carolina women's basketball head coach Dawn Staley is a legend in her own right, and she got to meet another legend at the Paris Olympics. She spoke on a recent episode of the Paul Finebaum Show about meeting former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

"Tom has a way of looking in your eye and you know how incredibly beautiful he is," Staley said. "He captures your moment, and he makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world, in his world."

Brady has made other sports icons starstruck in the past, but this takes it to a whole new level.

AUG 14 FALCONS TRADING FOR JUDON The Atlanta Falcons have been in desperate need of an edge rusher, and they just traded for one of the best in the entire NFL.

Per a report by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport , the Falcons are trading a future third-round pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for star linebacker Matthew Judon.

He finished his last full season in 2022 with 15.5 sacks, 60 total tackles, and 28 QB hits. Judon will be looking to help the Falcons contend in the NFC South with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have won the division three years in a row.

AUG 13 ARCTIC JOURNEY Jimmy Graham is one of the most dominant tight ends of this generation, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to deal with him in the NFC South. Now, he is training to do something extraordinary.

Despite not being officially retired yet, Graham is training to be part of a four person crew that rows across the entire Arctic Ocean. The journey will be 621 miles and they will be going nonstop.

Graham played 13 games and caught four touchdowns this past season for the New Orleans Saints. The team has been thinking about bringing him back for one more year, but he will have to complete his expedition first.

AUG 13 'DRAFT ME' The NFL season is almost upon us, which means that fantasy football drafts are happening as we speak. Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White had a message for fantasy owners in a recent video posted by Yahoo Fantasy Sports .

"Draft me again next year, trust me," said the young running back. He averaged just under 16 fantasy points per game, as his involvement in the passing game makes him an asset.

White will look to build off of his 2023 campaign and become a more efficient runner. If he is able to do that, he will find himself on even more people's fantasy teams in the future.

AUG 12 TOM TEACHER Rookie Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb is trying to find an edge. He was the No. 1 pick the NFL Draft, which guarantees ... nothing.

So what can be learned? And from whom?

It seems Williams has sought advice from is the legendary Bucs and Pats champion Tom Brady.

    That seems wise.

And up come two words: "Competitive stamina.''

    What's that mean?

“He kept harping on competitive stamina,” Caleb said. "He kept harping on being around your guys, understanding them, that relationship. And then, I mean, it’s hard. The job is hard. That’s what he said.”

Yeah, but ... what's "competitive stamina''?

Whatever it is ... Brady must've had it.

AUG 11 NEW WEAPON? The Bucs' rivals in Atlanta are making a clever move in signing Jakeem Grant, the oft-injured kick returner who when healthy was an All-Pro performer in Cleveland.

Grant hasn't played since 2021 because of two serious injuries; he tore his Achilles in 2022 and he ruptured his patellar tendon in 2023.

But before that? He earned back-to-back All-Pro selections and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Given the NFL's new kickoff rule, some teams are experimenting with the added value a specialist like him might offer. It's worth a shot. A smart shot.
