The Texas A&M Aggies went portal hunting during the offseason to replace a large amount of the talent that decided to leave College Station following the coaching change.

While Mike Elko went out and got a number of players who could prove to have a high impact on both sides of the ball, one stands out above the rest when it comes to talent and potential to excel as an Aggie.

In his list of the top-ten transfer portal additions of the offseason, Paul Myerberg of USA Today named former Purdue pass rusher Nic Scourton's transfer to play for Elko as one of the best.

“Last year’s Big Ten leader in sacks and quarterback pressures will be the centerpiece of Mike Elko’s new defense at A&M. The preseason all-conference pick had a terrific spring with the Aggies and is already listed as a potential first-round choice in next year’s NFL draft," Myerberg wrote . "Scourton also speaks to a greater trend around transfers and the portal: Big-name and deep-pocketed programs, such as Texas A&M, are able to draw talents such as Scourton away from other Power Four schools that simply aren’t able to keep pace from a financial perspective.”

Earlier this week, Scourton was named as a preseason All-American by both Sporting News and ESPN . He has also been mocked as a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The media is extremely high on Scourton, who had a huge impact for the Boilermakers last season and what he can do for Mike Elko's first Texas A&M Aggies defense.
