Evan McPherson took one warm-up swing on the turf in Tennessee in 2022 and said, "Looks like we're going to the AFC Championship."

A week later, on the frozen turf at Arrowhead Stadium on January 30, 2022, his holder, punter Kevin Huber said, "We're going to the Super Bowl."

McPherson has been an ever-reliable kicker ever since being the lone kicker selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. And now, just a few weeks leading up to the 2024 season, the Cincinnati Bengals extended their kicker.

McPherson was inked to a three-year, $16.5 million extension, linking him to the team through the 2027-28 season. His $10 million owed in 2025 is the highest ever for a three-year kicker extension.

As a rookie, McPherson was as close to automatic as you can get in the NFL. He was 28/33 from the field and converted on 46-of-48 extra points. In the playoffs, however, he was a perfect 14-of-14 on field goals, tying Adam Vinatieri 's record for the most in a single postseason. He was also a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points.

In 2022, he made 24-of-29 field goals and converted on 40-of-44 extra points on the year. In the playoffs, he was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 6-of-7 on extra points.

Last season, McPherson converted on 26-of-31 from the field and was perfect on extra points, converting all 40 attempts.

In his career, McPherson has never missed in the postseason, converting all 19 attempts. He is 34-of-35 on field goals within 40 yards. His career-long is 59 yards and has made 21 50+ yard field goals in three years.

Considering McPherson has led the team in scoring in all three of his seasons, extending him was a no-brainer.
