Jets Should Trade for Commanders' Jahan Dotson

The New York Jets seem set at wide receiver...for the 2024 season that is.

With Mike Williams coming back from a torn ACL, and Allen Lazard looking like the competent complementary option to Aaron Rodgers, the Jets have a collection of receivers that may not be the best in the league, but certainly are better than any they have had in recent years.

Following the 2024 season, though, the Jets' plans at wideout are a big question mark.

Lazard's contract has an out in the clause that could allow him to be a free agent - something that a big year in 2024 might not save him from. Williams himself could be in line for a big payday if he comes back healthy from his ACL injury.

Oh yeah, and the Jets need to extend Garrett Wilson immediately when the offseason begins.

There will be another second for a second or third wide receiver next year, and it's a role that Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson could fill. Entering his third season in the NFL, Dotson would still be under his rookie contract for 2025, and give the Jets some flexibility in the long-term.

While a trade may have to be done this training camp, bolstering the receiving core with a veteran like Dotson could be the perfect forward-thinking move the Jets leadership team needs to make to extend their championship window further.
