Bills Aim For Drastic Improvement vs. Steelers

The Buffalo Bills were irked by their performance against the Chicago Bears in a 33-6 loss in their first preseason game.

After going through camp, the first real competitive situation saw the Bills be overwhelmed in the fourth quarter. Receiver Khalil Shakir stated that the level of performance wasn't up to the standard that had been set, so now attention turns to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second preseason game.

With the news that head coach Sean McDermott plans to play all the starters for a quarter and a half, that is a clear message to the roster to shape up as the regular season comes into view.

The Steelers will be a tough outing for the Bills , and with rain expected, that will make things a little tougher, but that's what preseason is for to iron out the wrinkles and improve week on week.

But while the need for improvement is high after being outscored 20-0 in the fourth quarter vs. the Bears, so is keeping the roster healthy.

Keep in mind that it is "only" preseason, and with the starters expecting to play a quarter and a half, that is ample time for an injury. Fingers crossed, players from both teams don't get hit by the injury bug.

The Bills receiver room will be looking for an improved effort, with Shakir (3 rec, 28 yards) the leading receiver against the Bears. Running back Ray Davis will look to have his runs count this time after costly penalties saw a bunch of positive gains called back.

It might only be the second preseason game, but the Bills clearly feel a sense of urgency to put on a better showing against the Steelers as the regular season draws ever closer.
