Zach Wilson Impressive? Jets Former QB Surprising New Team in Camp

The Denver Broncos have not officially named a starting quarterback for the 2024 season.

That doesn't mean they haven't been impressed with the current room. Whether it's the play of first-round rookie Bo Nix, or even the development of former second-overall pick Zach Wilson, the Broncos appear pleased with how their current quarterback room looks.

For New York Jets fans, the news of Wilson succeeding in Denver may come as a surprise. After all, the former BYU standout has only received work with the third-team in Denver's offense with reporters like Ben Allbright saying there is a drop-off between Nix and Wilson altogether.

That didn't stop Dianna Russini, though from detailing what she has heard - even if it contrasts with those boots on the ground every day.

"Zach Wilson is also having a great camp with the Denver," Russini reported Friday. "Strong arm, his throws on time, asking good questions. One coach told me he is rejuvenated."

Wilson went 10-13 passing for Denver in their preseason opener against the Colts for 117 yards and a passer rating of 103.7.  While the numbers look great, those did come against Indianapolis' third and fourth-string defense.

How "rejuvenated" Wilson looks may be one thing, but how he performs on the field is entirely different. It's why Jets fans may laugh at the latest report from The Athletic as a push made by Denver's coaches altogether.
