Fight Breaks Out Amid Heated Fever-Mercury Clash

The Indiana Fever welcomed the Phoenix Mercury in their return to WNBA action on Friday.

During the third quarter of the game, Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell was involved in a scuffle with Mercury guard Natasha Cloud.

With 5:07 minutes left in the third quarter, the score was 61-51 in favor of Indiana. Cloud was guarding Mitchell during an offensive play for the Fever when a fight broke out.

Indiana forward NaLyssa Smith went up to the block to give Mitchell an off-ball screen. Cloud was trailing Mitchell and got caught up behind the Fever star, running into Mitchell.

Mitchell hit the floor after the nudge and took clear offense to Cloud's physicality. She then pushed Cloud, and the two went face-to-face. A couple of Fever and Mercury players then tried to separate the two, leaving the referees to get involved in the action.

"Uh oh Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Cloud Almost got crazy," said one fan.

"Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Cloud almost just threw hands omggggg," commented another fan.

"Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Cloud had to be separated right there!! Wonder what sparked the frustration," mentioned another fan.

The play ended in a double-technical foul assessed by the officiating crew.

During the game, the Mercury have received three technical fouls, while Indiana has picked up one from Mitchell. Phoenix's technical fouls were assessed to Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi and Cloud.

"Kelsey Mitchell getting into it with Natasha Cloud and it’s like our energy been gone since WAKE UP," said one fan.

"Kelsey Mitchell might be ejected for throwing a punch," commented another fan.
