Despite not having played for almost a month, Caitlin Clark picked up right where she left off.

The 22-year-old rookie phenom dominated the first half of Friday’s matchup against the Phoenix Mercury, logging 16 points, five assists and four rebounds while shooting 55.6% from the field as the Indiana Fever rolled to a 54-37 lead at home.

Clark threw up 3-pointer after 3-pointer and she dropped a few jaws when she hit Kelsey Mitchell in stride with a cross-court pass as Mitchell put it away to extend the Fever’s lead to 25 points.

The show Clark was putting on was appreciated by seemingly everyone inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse, especially Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who’s fresh off winning an Olympic gold medal with the U.S. men’s basketball team.

Haliburton even informed everyone on social media they should be tuning in to see the performance Clark was giving.

Clark wasn’t the only one who caught Haliburton’s eye.

NaLyssa Smith put away a tough bucket in the paint with two Mercury defenders in her face to double up the score — a play that seemingly got Haliburton fired up.

The Mercury fought back, however, closing the gap to within 73-65 heading into the fourth quarter.
