Jalen Brunson Keeps It Simple

Jalen Brunson wants to win at any cost, even if it means losing a dollar or two. Knicks fans rejoiced when the New York Knicks All-Star signed his four-year, $156 million contract extension. Brunson left a lot of money on the table to help the Knicks in the long run. Everyone had comments, but finally, it was Brunson's turn to reveal his reasoning for such a decision.

Brunson talked about his contract extension on the Roommates Podcast. For the All-Star point guard, it was simple.

“It’s kinda simple. I want to be here. I want to show that actions speak louder than just talking about stuff. I want this team to be together for a long time. I want to win here. That’s it," Brunson said.

New York signed a selfless star in 2022, and he's outperformed expectations on and off the court ever since. Brunson averaged 32 points and played an average of 39 minutes in 13 playoff games.

Brunson fought through a bad leg against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals until the fractured hand in Game 7 took him out of commission.

Before the Knicks fell to the Pacers, Brunson recorded five 40-point games. New York is finally in a championship position, a tier not seen since the 1990s Knicks. Brunson is primarily to thank for the Knicks' success.
