The Indiana Fever show was back on full display Friday night. In their first game back from the All-Star break, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark combined for 57 points. Their efforts led to a huge win over Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.

Mitchell scored 28 points for the Fever, while Clark posted a double-double with 29 points and 10 assists. After the game, Mitchell talked about her connection with Clark, and why she thinks they work well as a tandem.

"Basketball is a language," Mitchell said. "Me and [Caitlin Clark] like to play a certain way, and that's fast and up-tempo."

That blazing-fast offense gave the Fever a huge advantage to start the game. Capitalizing on a tired Mercury squad, Clark and Mitchell spearheaded a first-half run that saw them lead by as much as 28 points. Clark kept pushing the pace, and Mitchell was there to stay in step with her.

The Mercury weren't going down without a fight, literally. Led by Team USA standout Kahleah Copper's 32 points, Phoenix fought back to take back the lead in the third. Mitchell and Mercury guard Natasha Cloud also got into a scuffle in what ended up being a chippy match.

After retaking the lead in the fourth, the Fever took a double-digit lead and never looked back. The win will solidify their position in the playoff race as they look for a higher seed in the postseason.
