Mazi News: Dallas Cowboys v. Las Vegas Raiders - Ins & Outs
By Wil Riggs,

Week 2 of the preseason is upon us and there are still questions all over the field for the Dallas Cowboys as they travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders on Saturday.
As the two teams try to get a clearer picture of their roster as a whole, some players will get more time on the field this week than others. ... With Mazi Smith among those in the possible spotlight.
For the Cowboys, to begin with, they want to get a better look at quarterback Trey Lance. The former No. 3 overall pick has a lot to prove if he wants to remain in play at a real prospect.
The Cowboys could also be showcasing the former 49ers signal-caller as potential trade bait for the Minnesota Vikings, who lost rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the year with a knee injury earlier this week.
Running back Deuce Vaughn shined in practice this week and could see considerable playing time against the Raiders.
With the running back situation still “TBD” per coach Mike McCarthy, we could see all of them get opportunities tonight. Royce Freeman is coming off a groin injury, but should play tonight.
“It's TBD,” McCarthy said. “We got some work to do, we need to create opportunities for all those guys and I think having Freeman and Deuce back in practice now we get to really see that group moving forward starting Saturday in Vegas.”
And then there is the case of 2023 first-round nose tackle Mazi Smith, who is trying to grow into the job but who on Friday suffered an allergic reaction that caused him to not travel with the team from Oxnard to Vegas.
The Cowboys on Saturday in the noon hour announced it. No Mazi.
"Mazi Smith continues to recover from an allergic reaction experienced yesterday afternoon in Oxnard and will not travel to Las Vegas today for the Cowboys vs Raiders game tonight,'' the team said.
