The Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon 3-2 to avoid being swept in the season series finale. It was a close game, but Miami came up with the victory and are six and seven against the Mets for the season.

Miami starting pitcher Valente Bellozo was on the mound on Sunday and pitched well until the sixth inning. He went five and a third inning, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks, and he struck out four batters. New York managed nine hits against Miami pitching, but they struck out 12 times.

Miami was up first when Nick Fortes hit a sacrifice fly for the first run of the game. After a run-scoring wild pitch by New York relief pitcher Huascar Brazobán, Derek Hill hit an RBI single to essentially seal the game. Overall, the offense had eight hits and three walks, and they struck out seven times against New York pitching.

Paul Blackburn was solid in his start on Sunday, going six innings and only gave up a run on four hits, and he will take the no-decision.

This is New York's 60th loss of the season, they are four games over .500 and currently sitting a game and a half behind the Atlanta Braves for the third wild-card spot in the National League.

Meanwhile, Miami is now 46-78. They will enjoy this victory and head back to South Florida to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks starting Monday night. It is currently unknown who will start for either team on Monday.
