SEC Network host Paul Finebaum stopped by the " McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning " radio show Monday and discussed some Arkansas football, where he issued a few very bold predictions for the upcoming season.

On a surface level, Finebaum isn't pleased with the job head coach Sam Pittman has done since 2021, and you can read all about that right here. He then revealed one theory from this past offseason that could explain the next one.

"The decision to bring Petrino in was fascinating," Finebaum commented. "The fact it made everybody excited is a bad look for Pittman."

He believes that swell of support is a sign of a bigger plan in place.

"If you bring in the disgraced former head coach as a coordinator and that energizes your fanbase, that's telling me that he's there for a reason," added Finebaum. "And the reason is to take over for Sam Pittman."

Bobby Petrino back in the big chair at Arkansas? An idea that sounds ludicrous, but according to Finebaum, the runway may clear for such a move given Petrino's popularity and Pittman's shortcomings, should they persist in 2024.

If college football fans had a strong reaction to Petrino's hire at offensive coordinator, they may be in for a world of shock if Pittman is to get fired at the end of the season.
