The Colorado Buffaloes have hired George Helow as a senior defensive coach. Helow will work in conjunction with defensive coordinator Robert Livingston. Helow has a long resume, of working at top-notch programs such as Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Maryland and Florida State.

Helow’s recent role as a special assistant to Nick Saban at Alabama, particularly during their College Football Playoff Semifinal against Michigan, highlighted his tactical acumen. This wasn’t his first time at Alabama; he initially cut his teeth there in 2012 as a defensive intern under Kirby Smart, contributing to a program known for its defensive prowess.

At Michigan, Helow played a pivotal role in crafting a formidable defense. Under his guidance as linebackers coach, the Wolverines ranked third in total defense and fifth in scoring defense nationally in 2022. His experience in building elite defensive units will be invaluable as he steps into his role at Colorado.

Helow’s addition to Colorado’s coaching staff highlights the Buffaloes’ commitment to building a robust defense capable of competing at the highest levels, aligning with Deion Sanders’ vision for the program.
