Marlins Come Home, Begin New Homestand Starting With Diamondbacks

The Miami Marlins will return home and open a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.

Miami is coming off a 3-2 victory against the New York Mets at Citi Field. They will look to play the spoiler role again to a Diamondbacks team in the midst of a tight National League wild-card race.

Arizona currently holds the second N.L. wild-card spot by two and a half games. The San Diego Padres are in front of them and the Atlanta Braves are not far behind.

As for pitching matchups, right-hand pitcher Brandon Pfaadt (7-6, 3.98 ERA) will start for Arizona for the 25th time this season. His last outing was on Tuesday, Aug. 13 against the Colorado Rockies and he gave up four runs on eight hits in seven innings pitched.

Pfaadt’s counterpart will be Marlins righty Adam Oller. He will be making his first start after being selected from Triple-A Syracuse.
