Caitlin Clark is already an Indianapolis legend, serving as role model for young fans everywhere. But growing up as a kid in Iowa, the WNBA rookie looked up to another Indy sports icon.

When asked about her transition to Indianapolis, Clark mentioned the fact that Peyton Manning was her favorite NFL player growing up.

"I actually grew up a Peyton Manning fan. I had a pink Peyton Manning Colts jersey," Clark said. "It's kinda funny how everything comes full circle."

Like Manning, Clark has separated herself with her elite passing ability. The rookie sensation leads the WNBA with 8.3 assists per game and broke the all-time rookie assist record earlier this week.

Clark's teammate Kelsey Mitchell actually compared her to Manning before this year's WNBA All-Star Game.

"A lot of people don't understand this about Caitlin," Mitchell said. "... You don't know where those passes are going. Your IQ has to match hers.

"[She's like] Peyton Manning. Indianapolis' finest."

Clark and the Fever are on a two-game winning streak with victories over the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm to tip off the second half of the WNBA season.

The Fever will face off against the Minnesota Lynx in their next matchup on Saturday night.
