Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark recently secured the WNBA's all-time rookie assist record in the team's 92-75 victory over the Seattle Storm.

WNBA legend Ticha Penicheiro held the record since 1998, notching 224 assists during that season.

Clark broke the long-lived record in the second quarter of the Fever's victory over Seattle. She finished the game with 23 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.

The Fever rookie now has 232 total assists on the season, with a chance to extend the streak since Indiana has 12 games remaining on the schedule.

Following Clark's feat, Penicheiro took to social media, sharing a lengthy note to the Fever guard.

Penicheiro shared high praise for Clark, thanking the rookie for all she's doing for the game.

She explained that Clark has had to deal with such high pressure, but she's shown love and respect for the game, so the accolades and success have followed in an "organic way."

Clark then responded to Penicheiro, thanking the league legend while calling her the greatest of all time.

"The goat!!!!" Clark said. "Appreciate you always."

Penicheiro had a decorated career in the WNBA. She won a WNBA championship in 2005 and is widely considered one of the best playmakers to ever play the game.

Some of her individual accolades include being a four-time WNBA All-Star and seven-time WNBA assist leader.

Clark is on the right path to a legendary career like Penicheiro's. She leads the league in average assists with 8.3 assists per game and is also a lethal scorer with 17.8 points per game.

She'll have an opportunity to extend her assist streak when the Fever take on the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
