Indiana Fever Star Gives Unusual Response Ahead of Return

Indiana Fever center Temi Fagbenle recently provided a strange response to her return to WNBA action.

Fagbenle has been sidelined since Jul. 2 due to a thumb injury. Before the Fever's next matchup against the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 24, Fagbenle shared her thoughts on her fit in the lineup.

She expressed that she's proud of her team, winning back-to-back games since the WNBA returned from its 2024 Olympic break.

While she practiced on Tuesday and is nearing a return to the lineup, Fagbenle explained that she has mixed feelings about being back with the Fever since she doesn't want to come into a formula that currently has success and mess up Indiana's flow.

"So proud of my team," Fagbenle said. "In some ways, I'm just like, woo, let me just keep watching and not mess up the mojo 'cause we looking great. But, I'm glad to be on the way back and hopefully can add a little spark.

Fagbenle has played just 11 games this season, having started in two of those matchups. She served as the main backup to Fever center Aliyah Boston earlier in the year.

The 6-foot-4 center has averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in her limited action during the 2024 WNBA season.

While the Fever seem to be playing their best basketball of the season, adding a player like Fagbenle can only help the team's success.

She brings a much-needed boost in the painted area on both ends of the floor, and Indiana is currently fighting to make their final playoff push with 12 games remaining on their season schedule.

The Fever currently sit as the No. 7 seed in the WNBA rankings with a 13-15 record.

Fagbenle's availability for the Fever's next matchup against the Lynx on Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. ET is still up in the air, but she's clearly making her way back on the active roster.
