Hartenstein Shows Heart for Knicks Teammates

    By Lance Roberson,

The 2023-24 New York Knicks exuded team chemistry and infectious energy. Between the Villanova trio of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo, the synergy of the surging New York had the city humming. However, the tough interior presence of Isaiah Hartenstein provided the Knicks with a try-hard center who exceeded expectations during his New York tenure.

Although Hartenstein signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency, the brotherhood of the 24 playoff campaign runs through Hartenstein to this day. In a recent social media post, Hartenstein couldn't name his favorite Knicks teammates.

Ultimately, Hartenstein couldn't pick one Knicks teammate. During his two-season stint with the Knicks, Hartenstein granted himself love from the fans in the 2024 postseason, especially in Game 2 of the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs vs. the Philadelphia 76ers.

Hartenstein grabbed a clutch rebound over three unexpecting Philadelphia players, which ultimately led to DiVincenzo's game-winning shot. The Knicks also endured Joel Embiid's physicality, mainly taking a dirty knee to the groin from the 2023 NBA MVP.

Ironically, Hartenstein has openly talked about his brotherhood with the Knicks since signing with the Thunder. Perhaps once the season starts, such commentary will lessen.

Hartenstein clearly wanted to stay in New York but couldn't say no to the three-year, $87 million contract.

The Knicks' first game against the Thunder is on Jan. 3 in Oklahoma City. The pregame huddle will likely include many hugs between the Knicks and Hartenstein.
