The Miami Marlins played the second game of their three-game home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night and lost 3-1. It was a close game, but Miami fell to Arizona for the second consecutive game.

There wasn't a lot of offense on either side. Miami managed seven hits against D-backs pitching and only one run, an Xavier Edwards RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning. Otherwise, they didn't quite get to Arizona starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, who was solid for five and a third innings as he allowed six hits and struck out five batters. He is Tuesday night's winning pitcher.

On the other hand, it didn't start well for Miami starter Edward Cabrera, who allowed a Joc Pederson RBI single in the top of the first inning, followed by home runs by Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Cabrera went six innings, allowing all the three runs on four hits and three walks, and he struck out three batters. The Miami bullpen kept the game close as they didn't allow a run or a hit in three innings pitched.

Arizona is now 71-56. They currently hold the second National League wild-card spot by three and a half games. The San Diego Padres are in front of them with the Atlanta Braves not far behind.

Miami, meanwhile, loses for the 80th time this season and is now 46-80. They will attempt to avoid being swept at home by Arizona tomorrow night with Roddery Muñoz on the mound. It's currently unknown who will start for Arizona.
