History was made Tuesday night in Beantown. For the first time ever, a WNBA game was played at TD Garden, as the Connecticut Sun and the Los Angeles Sparks locked horns at the home of the Boston Celtics.

The Sun ended up winning the game, 69-61, with DiJonai Carrington leading the team with 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the floor.

Carrington, who had earlier called out the WNBA for not promoting the historic game enough, expressed her desire to see more such contests at TD Garden after the Sun’s victory.

“Hopefully this isn’t the last," Carrington said (h/t Noa Dalzell of SB Nation). "Hopefully this is the first of many."

A total of 19,125 people made up the jampacked crowd at TD Garden, proving that there’s legitimate excitement for women’s pro basketball in Boston.

It will be interesting to see whether there will be another WNBA game in Boston in the near future. But based on the turnout in the Suns-Sparks showdown, it makes a lot of sense for the league to come back for more.
