    Mets Biggest Questions For Postseason

With a little more than a month of the 2024 Major League Baseball season left, the New York Mets are in the hunt for a postseason berth. However, if they want to make a serious run and potentially get in, there are a few questions they need to get answered.

As of now, New York is two and a half games behind the Atlanta Braves for the third National League wild-card spot.  They are coming off a disappointing loss against the Baltimore Orioles in a game in which they didn't play at their best, especially from a pitching and defensive perspective.

Can the Mets get through a depleted Braves team?

This is one of the questions that should be addressed. The Braves may be in contention this season, but they have gone through so many roster issues, including injuries to key players.

The Mets have an even 5-5 record against the Braves so far this season. They are scheduled to play them again on the road during the last week of the regular season for three games. It would be incredibly important for the Mets to take advantage of the current state of the Braves roster. But, given that they haven't performed like a playoff team as of late, it's highly questionable if they can achieve that goal.

And, if the Mets miss the playoffs, would fans remember how disappointing 2023 was and that this year was an improvement with 2025 and 2026 the target years anyway?

Can the Mets take advantage of certain players' growth?

This is another important topic ahead of the playoffs. Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are having great seasons with the Mets, especially Lindor. Alonso's future with the team is still uncertain. You never know, this could be his last year with the franchise.

It will be important for the Mets as a team to take advantage of the performances these players are putting out there. It's been a surprisingly good-vibe season so far, but whether or not the team can take advantage and get into the playoffs remains to be seen.
