The 2024 college football season begins on Saturday, Aug. 24 with four games on tap, and Athlon Sports is back with predictions and picks for every contest.

The first weekend of the '24 season starts in Ireland with the Aer Lingus College Football Classic with an ACC showdown between Florida State and Georgia Tech. The Seminoles are a double-digit favorite over the Yellow Jackets, but coach Mike Norvell's team will be tested with several new starters moving into the lineup. The Yellow Jackets hope quarterback Haynes King and a solid group of skill players can test a rebuilt Florida State defense and score an early ACC upset.

The Bronco Mendenhall era begins at New Mexico with a tough matchup against top-five FCS squad Montana State on Saturday afternoon. The Lobos are a double-digit underdog, and an offense with just two returning starters needs a big day from rising star quarterback Devon Dampier.

ACC newcomer SMU travels to Reno to take on Nevada later that night, while Delaware State takes on Hawaii to close out the Week 0 games for '24.
