Saquon Barkley Injury Update: 'Load Management'?

    By Mike Fisher,

In the NBA, they call it "load management.'' And given what the Philadelphia Eagles are paying Saquon Barkley? We get it.

Barkley on Tuesday came up a bit lame with what seems now to have been a minor back issue. But Barkley was sidelined for a time that day.

And now on Wednesday? Barkley was back on the field as a part-time participant for some work ... though he did not involve himself in team drills.

The phrase being used in one report? The Eagles are "managing Barkley’s workload as the limitations are not due to an injury.''

    So ... "load management.''

The Eagles signed Barkley to a three-year deal in the spring, "stealing him away'' in a sense from New York after he's rushed for 962 yards with six touchdowns and caught 41 passes for 280 yards with four TDs for the Giants last season.

He was the Giants' most prized employee. Now he's right up there in the same category with the Eagles. Caution makes perfect sense ... though those who would argue against paying a superstar talent at the running back position a three-year, $37.75 million contract might suggest that maybe the Eagles should have taken more caution before committing to writing those massive checks.
