The Chicago Cubs are coming off an impressive series opening victory against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The team relied on some phenomenal defensive plays to help the Cubs become the sole owners of second place in the National League Central. They enter Wednesday's game only five and a half games back of the final wild card spot in the National League.

Wednesday, August 21st: Jameson Taillon vs. Beau Brieske

Jameson Taillon (8-7, 3.62) We'll make his twenty-second start of the season on Wednesday for the Cubs. The former second overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft has had his issues keeping runs off the board in his last few outings. In his last start against the Cleveland Guardians Taillon allowed four runs to score on five hits across six innings of work. The veteran struck out six Guardian's batters and walked two in the start.

The Tigers will once again go with a bullpen game as they start Beau Brieske (2-3, 4.43). He will be making his sixth start of the season. The 26 year old has a 2.06 ERA across six appearances in the month of August.
