Kentucky has extended another in-state offer, this time in the class of 2026. On Wednesday, 2026 top 30 guard Tay Kinney announced he had received an offer from the Wildcats while in Lexington for an unofficial visit on Wednesday. He will be back in Lexington for a visit to Big Blue Madness, set for October 11. Kentucky will have a handful of other visitors in town for the event like usual.

Kinney, who spent his last two years in high school at Newport, KY, recently announced a move to Overtime Elite, which is where another homegrown Kentucky target is in 2025 top 10 guard Jasper Johnson, who is set to make his decision next week and Kentucky is one of his top options. Kinney is a 6-2 point guard, and ranked 28th overall in his class, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. The four-star guard has been on the radar of the Kentucky staff since the spring, when assistant coach Cody Fueger first initiated the contact.

Now, Kentucky is taking the interest up a notch with an offer. It's worth noting that Kinney is very close to Great Crossing standout and 2025 Kentucky commit Malachi Moreno, who just inked with the Wildcats almost two weeks ago, given that the two are from schools nearly up the road from each other. Moreno will likely do everything he can to recruit him to Kentucky, even though the two are separated in class by a year. Those recruiting Kinney include the likes of Kentucky, Arkansas, Kansas, Tennessee, Texas, Villanova, Louisville, Texas A&M, Xavier, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Indiana, and Illinois, among others.

Kentucky will look to build the interest with the in-state native, hoping to bring him back home.
