Elly De La Cruz Captures The Internet After Surpassing Rare Milestone

    By Cole Sullivan,

Cincinnati Reds superstar Elly De La Cruz entered an exclusive group in the history books Wednesday night after continuing his incredible season in just his second year.

The Reds remain on the outside looking in the National League but have stayed very competitive despite being one of the most injury-riddled teams this season. De La Cruz's consistent and immense production has been vital to the teams competitiveness.

After being an all-star this season, De La Cruz has now surpassed an historic milestone that only a handful have managed to do.

The Reds shortstop is now only the fifth player ever to hit 20+ home runs and steal 60+ bases throughout an MLB season, and he still has over 30 games left in the year. He is the first shortstop to reach this rare milestone.

The four others in the club are Reds legend Joe Morgan in 1973 and 1976, the iconic Rickey Henderson in 1985, 1986, and 1990, Eric Davis in 1986, who was also a star for the Reds, and Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. last season in 2023.

It's important to note that De La Cruz is still just 22 years old. One of the youngest active players in the game, and he is ascending an extensive rate for a city and ball club that have been dying for that excitement.
