The Miami Marlins wrapped up their three-game home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night and lost 10-8. Miami has now lost three games in a row and suffers the sweep at home.

It was an all-around back-and-forth game on Wednesday, particularly on the offensive side. After Miami was down 1-0, Jake Burger hit a two-run home run (25th) to give them the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Afterward, Arizona got a 3-2 lead after a Jake McCarthy two-run homer. That didn't last long as Miami got RBIs from Otto Lopez (double), Cristian Pache (home run), and Xavier Edwards (triple). However, Arizona rallied to take back the lead as the score was 8-6 D-backs after the top of the eighth inning. Despite Miami's effort to come back, including getting the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning after Arizona took a 10-7 lead in the top half, they fell short after David Hensley struck out to end the game.

Miami starting pitcher Roddery Muñoz had a rough outing. He only went three and a third innings allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks, striking out three batters.

The offense for the Marlins showed signs of improvement after getting to Arizona starter Jordan Montgomery, who gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and one walk, striking out four batters.

The D-backs are now 72-56. With the San Diego Padres losing their game on Wednesday night, those two teams are now tied for the first National League wild-card spot, each leading the Atlanta Braves by four games.

The Marlins, meanwhile, fall to 46-81. They will have tomorrow off and then will welcome the Chicago Cubs to town for a three-game series starting Friday night.
