Atlanta Dream veteran center Tina Charles is now no. 2 WNBA's all-time scoring list. She climbed up from this to second on Wednesday night, as she helped the Dream score a 72-63 win at home over Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.

Adding to the emotional night for Charles was the presence of her former Mercury teammate and fellow UConn Husky Diana Taurasi.

"To be on the court with Diana, to be in the same sentence -- it's just unimaginable," Charles said after the game, per Michael Voepel of ESPN .

Charles entered the Mercury games with 7,479 career points in the league – just nine points behind Tina Thompson, who manufactured 7,488 points during her memorable time in the WNBA. Charles finished the game against Phoenix with 12 points to surpass Thompson. Charles now has 7,491 points through 418 games.

Having leaped past Thompson, Charles is left with one scoring mountain to scale, but that goal is not going to be easy. For one, the all-time leader in WNBA points is still active, with Taurasi having 10,500 points after she scored three points against Atlanta.

Charles did not just torch the Mercury offensively. She also did her job on the glass, pulling down 17 boards and adding three assists in 33 minutes of action.

Charles and the Dream are now on a three-game win streak and will be facing Phoenix anew this Friday at Gateway Center.
