NFL Fans Accuse Caleb Williams Of Trying Hard To Be Like Patrick Mahomes

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has been on the receiving end of some heavy trolling as fans accuse him of imitating Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes recently went viral after he threw an improvised behind-the-back toss to Travis Kelce in their preseason showdown with the Detroit Lions on Saturday. Days later, on Wednesday, Williams was caught on camera trying to do a behind-the-back pass during practice.

Naturally, many saw this as Williams' attempt to get attention like Mahomes or even to be compared to the three-time Super Bowl winner.

"He wants to be Mahomes so bad," a critic said on Dov Kleiman's video of Williams' practice moment. Another one agreed, saying, "Trying to be like Pat Mahomes lol."

"Okay, he's just trying to stay relevant because of Patrick," a commenter further accused the Bears rookie.

A social media user added, "Mahomes did it in preseason now everyone wants to do it. The moment it gets a pick 6 in a reg season game, it will go away."

"Just like his dad Mahomes," a fifth critic shared.

Another poster referenced Williams' recent comments about not wanting to be compared to Mahomes. For those who missed it, the Bears' No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has often been compared to the Chiefs QB ever since he was in college, but he downplayed their similarities in an interview and argued they are different.

"Didn’t he say he doesn’t wanna be compared to Patrick Mahomes. I mean at the end of the day do you?" the detractor added.

Caleb Williams has yet to respond to the accusations against him, but considering his recent actions, it's unlikely he'll be able to get away from the Mahomes comparisons any time soon.
