A month after the Nebraska men’s basketball team was announced as part of the 2024-25 Diamond Head Classic , their first-round opponent is now set.

ESPN Events on Thursday announced the Huskers will play Murray State to open the Christmas week tournament.

That first-round matchup is set for 8 p.m. on Dec. 22 and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.

It’ll be the third meeting between the schools and second on a neutral site — the other being the 1990 San Juan Shootout title game. The other was on Dec. 30, 2000, in Lincoln.

After that game, the Huskers will play either Hawaii for Charlotte, with that game also scheduled to be carried on ESPN2. The timing and broadcast information for their final game, on Christmas Day, will depend on the outcomes from the other games.

This will be Nebraska’s second appearance in the Diamond Head Classic after their visit in 2014.

With Thursday’s announcement, the final piece of the Huskers’ non-conference schedule is now set.
