The Cincinnati Bengals are in a closely contested preseason matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. It's the final week of the preseason and the Bengals are looking for their first win before the games count for real.

Heading into the third preseason game, head coach Zac Taylor said that most of the starters would not play. Offensively, a couple of receivers who will be part of the rotation logged some snaps. Defensively, the biggest name to suit up was Jordan Battle .

Battle broke out last year and got the Bengals on the scoreboard on Thursday Night with a 14-yard pick-six.

Colts starting quarterback Anthony Richardson finished his game 8/14 with 86 yards and a touchdown. However, it was his pass intended for Kylen Granson that allowed Battle to break on the pass.

Granson was open but started to drift to his outside shoulder but Richardson placed it inside. Battle read that pass, picked his pocket, and sauntered into the endzone.

Despite the additions of Vonn Bell , Geno Stone , and rookie Daijahn Anthony , Battle should be a regular contributor to the Bengals' defense this season.

Last year, as a rookie, Battle stopped up in a massive way to fill in a disappointing safety room. When he caught on, he was a game-changer. In total, Battle ended up with 71 total tackles, four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, two sacks, five pass breakups, and an interception.

He became a full-time starter in Week 11 and 428 of his 525 snaps on the year came from the final eight weeks.

Battle is set for a big year in this second season.
