Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has consistently proven himself as one of the NFL's most dominant pass rushers since entering the league.

With five Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro honors, and the title of 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett has built an impressive résumé. However, one accolade has eluded him: leading the league in sacks.

That could change in 2024. According to NFL.com data analyst Cynthia Frelund, this is the year Garrett finally claims the sack leader title. Frelund utilized her advanced statistical models and simulated the upcoming season over 100,000 times to predict the league leaders in various categories. Garrett, known for his extraordinary ability to overpower double and triple teams, emerged as the top candidate for most sacks in 2024.

Frelund's projections have Garrett leading the pack with 12 sacks, narrowly edging out Las Vegas Raiders’ Maxx Crosby , Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons , and Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt , who are all tied for second with 11 sacks. San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa rounds out the top five with 10 sacks. Frelund notes that while the raw numbers may seem low, they are based on fractional calculations per game, making the ranking and order more significant than the exact totals.

Garrett's dominance against multiple blockers was highlighted by his second-place finish in double and triple-team win rates last season, trailing only Aaron Donald . This exceptional skill set positions him as a prime candidate to finally outpace his competition, including his AFC North rival Watt, who has claimed the sack leader title in three of the last four seasons.

Should Garrett surpass 11.5 sacks in 2024, he will join the exclusive 100-sack club, a milestone achieved by only the NFL’s elite pass rushers. This accomplishment would also place Garrett within the top 50 on the official all-time sack leaders list. As the Browns aim to contend in a highly competitive AFC North, another standout season from Garrett will be crucial to their success.
