Cole Bishop Pleased to Be Back on Field for Bills

With Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer no longer with the Buffalo Bills, the organization knew they would need to address the safety position in a big way for the 2024 season.

That's why they chose to address the role early in the 2024 draft.

Cole Bishop, the second-round pick out of Utah was picked as the player Buffalo would turn to try and continue the team's strong history of defensive back play. As the rookie deals with a shoulder injury, though, his practice time has been more used as a rehab spot currently.

Still, it's not a bad thing to see Bishop back on the field.

"Good to be back out there," Bishop said via video conference . "Obviously I'd rather be out there playing but its been an opportunity to get out there and get some mental reps. Different perspective when you're on the sideline, you're able to see more."

Bishop may be happy to see the field, but his role with the Bills appears to be more of a question - at least for the 2024 season.

“We’ve been able to do a couple of things here and there,” defensive coordinator Bobby Babich said. “We’ve used some different resources and things of that nature, different ways we can test him mentally. When the bullets are flying on game day or even in practice, for that matter, it’s different. It’s a day-by-day process, and he’s got to continue to grow.”
