The name of the game for Kentucky defensive back Alex Afari Jr. is his ability to be versatile, playing in different spots on the field in the secondary. He's done well, especially last season, posting a career-high in tackles with 9 on the season, and had a couple of big plays throughout the season, coming up big in games for the Wildcats.

Defensive Coordinator Brad White knows that Afari's versatility is one of his biggest strengths in the secondary. "You talk about his versatility, and we can do multiple things. He's added weight and girth, and so, he can still do what he's done in the past," White told media on Thursday. "He can play out, he's comfortable in that, being out to the field and playing some of the apex. But then, to be able to slide in the box, on the line of scrimmage and do work against tight end's, off the box inside playing inside linebacker."

Something that the Wildcats could put him in to create an advantage is blitzing. "He's a natural blitzer," White said. "He's got good feel and wiggle. So if we can get him blitzing from the second level and get him on a back, that's a plus matchup for us. In this day and age, it's so much about matchups and trying to create those one-on-ones. If you can get the right one-on-one matchup, it gives us a chance to win that down, and he gives us different ways to get to the right matchup."

The Wildcats will definitely look to utilize his ability to be versatile this season, and in different ways.
