Texas Lands Elite Five-Star Safety Jonah Williams in Huge Recruiting Win

Texas landed a massive recruit on Saturday evening as five-star safety Jonah Williams committed to the Longhorns. Ranked as the top safety in the 2025 recruiting class by On3, the Galveston, Texas recruit will bring tantalizing upside to Austin next fall.

Williams played linebacker and safety at Ball High School and is ranked as the top linebacker in this recruiting class by 247. At 6'3", 206 lbs, he's a hard-hitting tackler who can be moved all over the defense, like Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, whom he says he models his game after.

Williams has also played wide receiver at Ball High School, finishing with 20 catches for 474 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The two-way talent brings a freakish athletic profile and is also one of the country's best high school baseball recruits.

In a heated recruiting race, Texas beat out LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC for Williams' signature. The Longhorns didn't get an official visit from Williams this summer, but he visited on July 25 in an unofficial capacity.

According to college football insider CJ Vogel , he's the ninth-highest-rated prospect to commit to Texas per the 247Sports composite ranking and the highest-rated DB commit in the Longhorns' composite era.

With the addition of Williams, the Longhorns now have the 7th-ranked recruiting class in the country for the 2025 cycle, per 247Sports . Williams joins fellow five-star recruit Kaliq Lockett as a top-15 prospect in the Texas class.

"Texas boys create legacies where legends are born," Williams said, per Hayes Fawcett. Longhorns fans will be ecstatic to see what kind of legacy Williams creates in Austin starting next fall.
