Bears waive 9 in first wave of roster cuts

The Chicago Bears have parted with nine players ahead of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline.

All NFL teams have to have their inital 53-man rosters set by 3 p.m. (CT) on Tuesday, leaving the Bears with some tough decisions still ahead. However, none of the cuts on Monday were a surprise.

Those waived by the Bears on Monday were:

    • WR John Jackson
    • WR Peter LeBlanc
    • OL Ja’Tyre Carter
    • OL Jerome Carvin
    • DL Michael Dwumfour
    • DL Jaylon Hutchings
    • LB Paul Moala
    • LB Javin White
    • S Quindell Johnson

Carter is the most surprising but still was on the bubble. The former seventh-round pick appeared in three games as a rookie for the Bears, plus 10 games and two starts last year.

Chicago’s roster is now at 78 players, meaning 25 more will be cut in the next 23 hours.
