College Football Expert Says Texas A&M Aggies HC is in One of Best Positions in the Sport

The Texas A&M Aggies do not have a new coach in 2024 because the old coach couldn't bring in talent.

In fact, it's actually quite the opposite. Jimbo Fisher brought in as much talent consistently as just about anyone else in the country. He just couldn't develop and maximize it. Enter Mike Elko , who will have a top-ten roster in the country in terms of talent level in his first season as Texas A&M's head coach.

Josh Pate of Josh Pate's College Football Show pointed out the fact that the Aggies are rated No. 7 in 247's talent rankings and said that Elko is in one of the best positions in the entire sport entering his first season as the head coach in College Station .

"Mike Elko is in one of the positions in the sport and I don't know how many people realize it," Pate said . "There's no burn it down and rebuild from scratch, there's none of that. There is a loaded roster with very poor organization, it was mismanaged. He's gonna inject both of those immediately and still gets the benefit of having good football players there. They could pop immediately, I think A&M could be a playoff team this year ...You've got a place where it's all possible, you got a place where you can do everything the big boys can do, you have all the resources the big boys have had, but you haven't performed like the big boys have, therefore someone gets to come in there and be the first to do it. Elko's gonna be the first to do it."

If Pate proves to be correct, Elko has a chance to go down as the best coach in the storied history of Aggie football. Whoever has the distinction of finally taking the program over the hump and getting them to championship caliber will hold that title.

Pate just happens to believe that they have the guy to do just that.
