Pat McAfee Fiercely Defends Lane Kiffin Over Nick Saban Controversy

    By Alex Weber,

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin created more headlines at his press conference Monday, this time in an effort to clear up another media storm.

He was taking up for his old buddy and boss, Nick Saban, who recently caught heat for allegedly calling Lane Kiffin "narcissistic" with a curse word following. However, after appropriate research was done, turns out, the Saban quote wasn't even true.

So, on Monday, Kiffin said it was a "shame" that Saban's words got turned around and explained what an issue such misunderstandings have become in sports coverage.

Following Kiffin's comments on the matter, Pat McAfee responded with a "Hear! Hear!" in concurrence.

"Lane Kiffin's done this a few times," noted McAfee. "He seems like, in his mind, I've let a lot of people get away with saying a lot of things over the years. That kind of stops now."

    McAfee continued.

"I appreciate that he addressed it and I appreciate that Coach Saban came out and spoke the way that he did about it all to kind of settle that thing," he added.

Pat McAfee himself noted that he and his show have had to issue corrections in the past, since it's a crazy world out there in 2024.

"We've been wrong before, we've had to come out and say we apologize, because you're going to get got on there," he said. "But there's a lot more of that happening nowadays than ever."
