Will Browns WR David Bell Survive Final Roster Cuts?

The Cleveland Browns have a stacked roster from top to bottom. Coach Kevin Stefanski said himself that this is going to be one of the toughest jobs he has ever had to do.

Receiver David Bell, a third round pick out of Purdue in 2022, has slide down the depth chart since being injured in the first preseason game of the year.

Rookie Jamari Thrash has soared up the depth chart, which has put Bell’s roster spot in question. Bleacher Report believes that Bell could be on his way out of Cleveland.

“Bell had some impressive catches during organized team activities (OTAs) and looked like a possible fourth or fifth option behind Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Jerry Jeudy and/or second-year receiver Cedric Tillman Jr,” B/R writes.

“Rookie fifth-round pick Jamari Thrash has flashed during exhibition play and could wind up pushing the 23-year-old off the roster.”

The Browns selected Thrash in the fifth round of this year’s draft out of Louisville and was seen originally as a project, but he has come along quickly and should get considerable playing time for the Cleveland this season.

“Cleveland may hope to stash Bell on its practice squad,” B/R continued, “but his draft pedigree and upside will make him a prime candidate for other receiver-needy teams.”

As the deadline looms, we all wait for the final hammers to fall before we can asses the cut down day carnage.
