Should Commanders Sign Bears' Pro Bowl Defensive End?

The Washington Commanders are on a path of rebuilding this once great franchise. As owner Josh Harris stated earlier this week, “we’ve got to win above all else.”

New coach Dan Quinn is a defensive guy, which is good considering last year’s unit was the worst in the league. Quinn’s defensive scheme requires forcing turnovers and getting to the quarterback, and not necessarily in that order.

Bleacher Report recently released an article suggesting the Commanders could sign D.C. native  and free agent Yannick Ngakoue.

"The Commanders could use some pass-rush help and Ngakoue might be interested in coming home as he's from Washington D.C. and went to college at Maryland," Bleacher Report writes. "Plus, it doesn't hurt that the eight-year veteran has had at least eight sacks in every season he's played in a minimum of 15 games."

Ngokoue has been a defensive menace since being drafted No. 69 overall in the third round of the 2016 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As Bleacher Report noted, he has had eight or more sacks in every season he has played at least 15 games, which was every season until last year.

He only recorded four sacks in 13 games for the Bears last season, which broke a streak of seven consecutive seasons with eight or more sacks.

The former Maryland Turpin could still be a valuable defensive piece for Quinn and this Commanders defense.
