Cincinnati Bengals Ink Deal With Ex-Clemson Star

Tuesday at 4 PM was the deadline for all NFL franchises to trim their roster down to 53 players ahead of the 2024-25 NFL season.

That means releasing, waiving, or assigning the players who are potentially hurt onto an alternative list. Like the physically unable to perform list, which then holds that player out the first four weeks of the season before they are eligible to return.

However, after players are released, there is still a lot of movement. Some teams waive players due to cap reasons, which then opens the door for other teams to pounce on the talent that emerges in free agency.

Which is exactly what the Cincinnati Bengals did on Wednesday, after they reportedly signed former Clemson Tigers star and Washington Commander , KJ Henry .

Henry was one of the most sought-after edge rushers on the free agent market entering Wednesday, and the Bengals landed much-needed pass rush and defensive line help.

The Bengals D-Line coach, Marion Hobby , was a key factor in recruiting Henry to Clemson; now he is in Cincinnati playing under a coach he is more than comfortable with.

Henry started three games during his rookie season in 2023 and tallied 19 combined tackles, 14 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Which is quite productive for someone who only started three games. Although he appeared in ten.

During his days at Clemson, Henry was a 2022 all-American who racked up 147 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, four fumble recoveries, and 11 pass breakups in 1,771 snaps in 58 total games across 2018–2022.

Nonetheless, the Bengals add much-needed defensive line help to start the 2024 NFL season that begins September 8th for the Bengals.
