Gable Steveson’s attempt to transition from professional wrestling to the NFL has hit a significant roadblock. The former WWE wrestler and Olympic gold medalist was released by the Buffalo Bills , the team trimmed its roster to meet the NFL’s 53-man limit . Despite his efforts during training camp and preseason, Steveson was not signed to the Bills’ 16-player practice squad, leaving his future in football uncertain.

Steveson, who was attempting to make the Bills’ roster as a defensive tackle, was a long shot from the start. With no prior football experience, his journey to secure a spot in the NFL was always going to be challenging. He appeared in three preseason games, where he showcased his athleticism and potential, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to earn him a place on the team.

Steveson passed through waivers without being claimed by another team and was not offered a spot on the practice squad , which would have allowed him to continue developing with the Bills.

Steveson’s athletic background is impressive—he is a former standout amateur wrestler at the University of Minnesota and won an Olympic gold medal. However, his foray into professional wrestling with WWE was met with mixed reviews, and his release from the company earlier this year left him searching for a new career path.

As of now, Steveson’s future in the NFL remains in question. While the possibility of bringing him back is not yet ruled out for the team in the future, Steveson’s next steps are unclear. Whether he will continue to pursue a career in football or explore other opportunities remains to be seen.
