Sad news struck the college football world on Thursday, as seven-time national champion Nick Saban's mother, Mary Saban Pasko, passed away at the age of 92.

You can read her lovely obituary from the Tuscaloosa News here, which was published Thursday and includes some touching memories from her life as a wife and mother. She and her husband were model community folks in their West Virginia town.

"Nick and Mary owned and operated Saban Gulf Service Station and the adjacent restaurant and Dairy King serving the Carolina, Monongah, Farmington and Fairmont areas," it read.

"Mary supported the Pop Warner Black Diamond Football team, working concessions and decorating the bus which Nick, Sr. drove to pick up the boys from all the small inaccessible areas in the hills of West Virginia," it added.

Being the mother of Nick Saban, though, there are sure to be some interesting stories behind the scenes when it comes to the legendary college football coach. Luckily, Brett McMurphy shared one of his favorite Mary Saban Paske stories.

Judging by McMurphy's story and the obituary, the world just lost a wonderful woman this week. Keep Nick Saban in your thoughts this weekend, everybody.

Saban retired from coaching in January 2024.
