At one point this decade, the Philadelphia Eagles fielded one of the oldest rosters in the NFL.

That reality has flipped entirely over the years.

As the Eagles prepare for the 2024 season, they field the third-roundest roster in the NFL today at an average age of just 25.62 yards. Philadelphia's starting roster is not among the youngest overall, but the full 53-man roster combined totaled for the young grade.

Helping the Eagles in this regard is the team's recent retirement of Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox. Both Cox and Kelce are two of the older players on the team in recent years.

Another piece of the age puzzle has been Philadelphia focusing on getting younger on the defensive side of the ball. Only Darius Slay is over 30 years old among the starters on the defensive side of the ball.

On offense, Lane Johnson is the lone 30-year-old starter for the Birds.

With an emphasis on getting younger, the Eagles have been able to not only compete at a high level but recycle some of their talent with young players around some of the most important positions on the roster.

It hasn't been the case for many years, but Philadelphia is finally among the youngest players in the NFL today.
